Beacon Church celebrates 30 years!

A Resurrection Celebration and Church Anniversary

Sunday 20th April was not only Easter Sunday, the day where The Beacon Church joined with Christian believers around the world in celebrating the resurrection of Jesus, but it was also the day where we marked the 30th Anniversary of The Beacon Church’s launch.

Remembering Our Roots

The Beacon Church officially started on Easter Sunday in 1995 after a group of people, led by Mark Landreth Smith from The Coign Church Woking (now known as Welcome Church) responded to the request by Berkshire Road Evangelical Church in Camberley to come and continue the gospel mission to this area as it was about to close its doors.

Celebrating God’s Faithfulness

Since this time, the Beacon Church has grown significantly and has seen hundreds of lives transformed and a growing faith filled community being built. It was our pleasure to welcome back the founding pastor of the Beacon Church, Mark Landreth- Smith, along with his wife Bev and their grown-up family. As our guest speaker, Mark spoke passionately about the resurrection power of Jesus and his invitation to be a friend of God. It was wonderful to celebrate with over 370 adults and children gathering together to mark the risen Lord Jesus, and His faithfulness to His church. The Village Hotel Farnborough, where we host our Sunday services, was fully packed, with people sat throughout the coffee lounge, on the floor and on the window ledges.

Honouring the Past, Trusting for the Future

We want to take this opportunity to honour everybody who has played their part in the life of the Beacon Church over the last 30 years. Through their gifts, generosity and by the grace of God, The Beacon Church continues to fulfil its mission to ‘Help people know God, find freedom, discover their purpose, and make a difference.’

With our vision being set on being ‘a growing church of 500 people, transforming lives and building community’, we faithfully trust God for the next season ahead.
