Every church has people working behind the scenes to keep things moving — organising, communicating, solving problems, managing buildings, supporting leaders, preparing events, looking after systems and making sure the details don't get missed. You might call them the engine room...

The Engine Room is a conference hosted by Commission for operational staff serving in churches across the Newfrontiers spheres. Whether your role is in administration, operations, communications, facilities, events, finance, IT or another area that helps your church function well, this day is for you.

Our work can sometimes feel like it happens in the background. We're often the people making phone calls, sorting spreadsheets, fixing problems, booking rooms, sending emails, setting up systems, communicating vision and quietly making sure everything is ready for Sunday. But operational ministry matters. Good organisation creates space for people to flourish, leaders to lead and churches to fulfil their mission.

We want to create a space where you can step out of the usual demands of the job, meet others doing similar work in similar sized churches, share experiences, learn from one another and be encouraged in the vital role that you play in the life of your local church.

Our keynote speaker for the event is Nigel Ring. With decades of invaluable experience serving alongside Terry Virgo in the foundational years of Newfrontiers, Nigel brings a wealth of wisdom, spiritual insight, and a profound understanding of church administration and governance. He understands the unique pressures and privileges of church operations like few others. Nigel will be sharing vital principles to help you align your practical skills with God's prophetic vision for your local church, reminding us all that administration is a spiritual gift designed to facilitate the move of the Spirit.

Nigel Ring

Has served for over 30 years as the full-time administrator to Terry Virgo and the Newfrontiers apostolic team. He is passionate about serving those who are poor or in need and helps churches develop ‘Best Practice’ ministries using a tool he has developed: The Ministry Health Check.

The Engine Room will be a day of practical input, inspiration, conversation and connection. There will be opportunities to hear from Nigel and other experienced practitioners, explore the challenges and opportunities we face in operational roles, and build relationships with others across the Newfrontiers family.
